Jamjid-e-Rajamkaran is located in the village of Jamkaran, about 6 kilometers from the city of Iran. It is built on the Qom-Kushan route and has special religious significance in Shia Islam. This mosque is an important pilgrimage center for Shia Muslims, which is famous for beliefs associated with the twelfth Imam, Imam Mahdi (AS). According to the traditions, this mosque was built in 393 Hijri (1003 AD) by Hassan Bin Maslah on the orders of Imam Mahdi (AS). According to Shia belief, Imam Mahdi, who is considered to be the twelfth Imam in Shia Islam and the Messiah bringing peace in the world, ordered Hassan bin Muthlih Jamkarani (Sheikh Hassan IBN Muthlih Jamkarani) to build this mosque in a dream.
Why is it special in this mosque on Tuesday night
The mosque has beautiful Islamic art, blue-green domes, towers, and rooms adorned with verses of the Quran. It is a huge complex consisting of several entrances, prayers halls, and tolerating (sahib al-zaman court). This mosque is not only the center of worship, but also known for the help of community activities, religious education, and needy. Free food is also distributed here on Tuesday night. Shia Muslims believe that Imam Mahdi is “spiritually” in this mosque every Tuesday night. For this reason, on Tuesday night, thousands of pilgrims come here to pray and put their arms in a special well (“Well of requests”), in which they write their vow.

It is located in Jamkaran village of Iran.
Iran-Israel Tension In Iran-Israel Tensions
Jamkaran Mosque has symbolic and political importance in Iran-Israel stress, especially due to hoisting the red flag (“Red Flag”) on its dome, which is considered a symbol of “blood of sacrifice” and “revenge” in the Shia tradition. This mosque of Iran is often in the news due to the red flag. However, this is not the first time that a red flag has been hoisted on this mosque. This red colored flag is hoisted when someone’s death or attack is announced. The red flag on the dome of Jamkaran Mosque was first hoisted after the murder of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Qasim Sulemani in January 2020, which the US killed in a drone attack in Iraq. Subsequently, the flag was hoisted after the missile and drone attacks against Israel in April 2024 and the Hamas leader Ismail Haniah on 31 July 2024 in Tehran.
