Because the name of this bulb may be zero watt, but it also consumes electricity.
So this question might be coming in your mind that then why is it called zero watt bulb. Actually, this bulb got this name not from today but from a very old time, when electric meters were not so advanced. Let us tell you why they were named zero watt bulbs.

How much electricity does a zero watt bulb consume?
Zero watt bulbs consume 12-15 watts of electricity. However, in olden days, all the electronic devices were switched off while sleeping at night and only zero watt bulb was lit, so the electromagnetic meter could not measure such a small amount of electricity. The meter showed ‘zero’ power and hence it was named zero watt bulb. A misconception was formed among the people about this bulb and due to this it started being used.
So now you must have understood that this bulb was named Zero Watt Bulb not because of its zero power consumption, but because of the inability of old meters to measure the power consumption correctly. This bulb consumes 15Wh or 0.015 KWh or 0.015 units in one hour.
How much electricity will be consumed if you leave it burning all night?
If you burn a zero watt bulb for the whole night i.e. 12 hours, then it will consume total electricity of about 180 watts. So do not leave this bulb burning thinking that it does not consume any electricity. Of course, it consumes electricity whenever, but it can gradually increase your electricity bill.
