1. Choose the right type
There are many types of cherry, but Dwarf or Miniature Variety is the best for growing in pots. These plants are not very large and easily give fruits in small spaces. Both sweet cherry and sor cherry varieties can be grown in pots, but sweet cherry is more popular for domestic horticulture.
Choose at least 18-24 inches deep flower for cherry so that the roots get full space to spread. Plastic or fiber can also be of plastic or fiber instead of soil, but there must be a drainage hole below to extract water. The soil should be light, fertile and good drainage. You can make a perfect mix by mixing 30% sand and 20% compost in the garden soil.

If you want to grow a plant with seeds, soak the cherry seeds in water for 10-12 hours, then apply them in the soil 1-2 inches. Although it takes more time to get fruits from seeds, it is better to bring a plant prepared from nursery. While applying the plant to the pot, spread the roots lightly with hand and set the soil slowly and set it.
Cherry plant prefers water, but the roots can rot by filling water. So give light water 2-3 times a week, especially in summer. The soil should always be moist, but not wet.

Cherry needs good sunlight. Keep the plant in the sun at least 6-8 hours daily. If you live in a cold place, then this plant will give fruit easily, but light shade may also be required in very hot areas.
6. Manure and Nutrition
It is necessary to give manure from time to time to the cherry plant. Add organic manure or vermi compost every 20-25 days. Give fertilizer rich in potassium and phosphorus at the time of flowering, it makes fruits good.

7. Plant care and sorting
When the plant turns 1-2 years old, then sort it lightly. Due to this, new twigs come out in the plant and more fruits. Remove dry and diseased branches immediately.
Cherry plants are at risk of aphids and fungal infections. For this, spray neem oil 2 times a month. Always keep the pot and soil clean so that the disease does not spread.

9. Fruit time arrival time
Usually, the cherry plant starts giving good fruits in 2-3 years. Break only when the fruits become red and light soft. Do not leave more ripe fruits on the plant for long, otherwise they can get spoiled.
It is most important to be patient while growing cherries in pots. Initially, fewer fruits will come, but as the plant gets stronger, you will get a lot of sweet and fresh cherries every year.
