South indian uttapam recipe: If you are thinking of eating something healthy and tasty, then the uttapam made in South Indian style can be a great option for you. Let us know how to make it at home with uttapam recipe, that too in a very easy way.

The ingredients required to make uttapam batter for 2 to 3 people

  • Rice – 1 cup (plain rice)
  • Urad Dal – 4 cups (washed, without peeled)
  • Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Water – to soak and grind
  • Onion – 1 finely chopped
  • Tomatoes – 1 finely chopped
  • Green chili – 1 finely chopped
  • Capsicum – ½ cup finely chopped
  • Carrot – ½ cup grated
  • Coriander leaf – 2 tablespoons finely chopped
  • Oil – to cook
  • Full method of making uttapam batter
    Wash rice, urad dal and fenugreek seeds together and soak for at least 5-6 hours. After getting wet, make a smooth batter by adding some water to the grinder. Cover this batter and leave it on a warm place for 6-8 hours or overnight. When the batter swells and light sour fragrance starts coming, then add salt to it. Now this batter is fully prepared for Uttapam.

    Method of making step by step as follows

    step 1: Wash all the vegetables thoroughly and cut it finely. This will improve the taste and texture of uttapam.

    Step 2: Mix the batter well. If you have brought from the market, then check the salt in it and mix it.

    Step 3: Heat non-stick griddle, add a little oil and spread.

    Step 4: Now put a puffy batter on the pan and spread slightly thick in round shape (thick to dosa).

    Step 5: Spread onion, tomato, capsicum, carrots, green chillies and coriander leaves from above. Press with light hands so that the vegetables stick to the batter.

    Step 6: Now cover and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes. When it becomes golden from below, turn over and roast from the other side also.

    Step 7: When it becomes crisp from both sides, uttapam is ready.

    How to serve
    Serve it with coconut sauce, tomato sauce or hot sambar. If you want, you can also give children in tiffin by applying some butter. This recipe can also make the day special from your mango. Its taste will be liked by both children and elders.
