Jenn Tran isn’t afraid to be honest about her experience with hair loss—and she’s not afraid to share what she’s choosing to do about it either. The 27-year-old former Bachelorette opened up about her hair loss journey on May 28, sharing via social media that she recently made the decision to get PRP injections.
According to Us Weekly, Tran took to her Instagram story to share a mirror selfie of her sitting in a doctor’s chair. “Always transparent with you guys,” she wrote. “I’ve been noticing my hair has been thinning in the front and I wanted to try and stimulate more hair growth there.” The reality star continued, saying that she learned about PRP injections while in PA school and spent time reading up on the clinical trials before deciding to get the treatment. “Will keep you updated on how I feel about it,” she added.
PRP is an abbreviation for platelet-rich plasma, and it’s a treatment in which platelets from a patient’s own blood are used to promote skin rejuvenation and hair growth in certain areas. “The process involves drawing a small amount of blood, processing it to concentrate the platelets and then injecting the PRP into the desired area,” Miami-based dermatologist Deborah Longwill, DO told NewBeauty in a previous story. Aside from stimulating hair growth, PRP can also improve the thickness, density and overall health of the hair as well as wrinkle reduction and skin texture improvement.
Tran followed up her first photo with a video of herself getting the PRP injected, shouting out her practitioner in the caption. “Was so happy I trusted @look_by_leah!!” she wrote. “I love my PAs ❤️.”
This isn’t the first time Tran has been candid about getting cosmetic procedures. Last year, when a TikTok user posted a video speculating that the star had gotten lip filler, she confirmed it in the comments sections, writing that getting filler had been “literally life changing” for her. Tran also later followed up with her own video, giving more details about her first-time filler experience.
“I’ve always wanted to get a little bit of lip filler, I’ve just never had the chance to,” she said. “For me, I just really wanted to enhance the natural beauty in my face that I already have. I don’t want to look super done up.”
