Jenna Ortega’s appearance at Netflix’s “Tudum” live event this past weekend should be a reminder that no one does gothic glam better than she does. With the season two premiere of Wednesday nearing, the show’s 22-year-old star is taking so many cues from her darkly comedic character via her glam these days that it’s starting to become her signature. A few weeks ago, Ortega attended the 2025 Met Gala wearing a fully metal dress with Old Hollywood waves and smokey eye makeup, and on May 31, she stepped out at the streaming service’s live event serving the same vibe with another retro look.
Ortega walked the red carpet wearing a fitted, gray leather trench coat and black shades. She opted for slightly smokey makeup again with dark winged eyeliner and a darker, burgundy lip color to line her lips. Her hair was styled in ’60s-inspired waves that she chose to cover at certain parts of the day with a matching gray scarf to add to her incognito look, but what tied everything together was the kiss curl that hung just above her brows.
Ortega’s beauty looks have evolved quite a bit over the last year, and most of them seem to be inspired by decades past. Before her retro kiss curl look this weekend, she was known for wearing ’70s-esque curtain bangs at most public-facing events. The actress softened up the look a bit back in March, when she wore her hair in a straight and glossy style to the New York City premiere of Death of a Unicorn.
As the Wednesday press tour continues over the next few months, we can’t wait to see what other retro looks Ortega pulls out of her hat.
