Gulmarg fashion show controversy: A fashion show in the month of Ramadan in Kashmir’s litigants has warmed the state. Luxury fashion brand Shivan & Narresh’s designers Shivan Bhatia and Naresh Kukreja recently did a fashion show in Gulmarg, which has been engulfed in controversies for their ‘obscene’. The fashion show was held on March 7 as a celebration of the 15th anniversary of his brand in Kashmir. But in this show held in the Pak month of Ramadan, the show has shocked the fashion of fashion. In the midst of this uproar, both fashion designers have apologized for their show.
The controversy increased more when Kashmir chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq strongly criticized the show, describing it as “indecent” and an insult to the cultural and religious beliefs of Kashmir. After his statement, the anger of the public got angry, and many politicians including Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reacted to this.
After heavy protests on this fashion show, Shivan & Narresh has apologized on his X (first Twitter) account. He wrote, ‘We are deeply sorry that during the holy month of Ramadan, our fashion show in Gulmarg hurt someone’s feelings. Our aim was only to celebrate creativity and ski lifestyle, not to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. We respect all cultures and traditions and we have a complete understanding of the concerns raised. We heart apologize for any unknown inconvenience and appreciate our community’s response. In the future, we are committed to being more vigilant and sensitive.
The public erupted, then the government bruses pension
Although the designers apologized, the public’s anger did not calm down. Political and religious leaders demanded to decide the responsibility of the event. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the displeasure of the people is completely justified. He also made it clear that the government had nothing to do with this event and if permission was sought from the government, it would never get approval. He further informed that the investigation of the case has been started and if a violation of a rule is found, strict action will be taken.
