Korean Netizens Notice A Big Difference In HYBE Artist’s Lunar New Year Greetings

Each year, K-Pop idols post a Lunar New Year video for fans. Seollal, also known as the Korean New Year, is an important holiday in Korea.

Recently, an online community post garnered much attention after netizens noticed something when comparing the Lunar New Year videos posted by HYBE artists.

The videos show that most of the groups wore traditional Korean clothing, also known as hanbok.

However, they noticed that some groups did not wear the traditional outfits.

With this, netizens felt that there were differences in clothing depending on whether or not there were foreign members in the group.

• “I think aespa also doesn’t wear hanbok. Entertainment companies are always on their toes if they have a Chinese member, so that’s why they don’t wear hanbok (sorry if I’m wrong).”
• “Thinking about it, SM doesn’t make Chinese members wear hanbok either.”
