An incident has come to light in Krishnanagar, Lucknow, which forced every parent to think again on the relationship with their children. A 15 -year -old girl fed her mother sleeping pills for three months, so that she would sleep deeply and the girl could talk to her boyfriend overnight or go to meet her. This sensational case came to light when the mother’s health started deteriorating and medical examination revealed that there is a high amount of sleeping pills in her body. The girl confessed that she mixed three to four bullets in her mother’s food daily and took advantage of her sleep and did her arbitrariness. This incident not only shook the family, but also highlighted the increasing distance between children and parents in the society.
After going into the depth of the case, it was found that along with sleeping pills, a vial of poison was also recovered from the girl, which was given by her boyfriend. The girl admitted that she had planned to kill her mother first, but later she did not take this step and continued to give only sleeping pills. The family and the police were shocked to hear this. The reason behind this act of the girl was her deep emotional connection with her boyfriend and lack of communication with parents. After this incident, the girl was sent for counseling and kept in the shelter home. This case is not only the story of a family, but in today’s era there is a sign of growing stress and misunderstandings between teenagers i.e. teenagers and their parents.
Nowadays the distance between teenagers and parents is increasing. Teenage is the age where children want their freedom and are emotionally weak. At this age, they can easily come under the influence of wrong company or social media. In this incident in Lucknow, the girl’s relationship with the boyfriend and her wrong advice inspired her to take such a big step. Parents should talk openly with their children, understand their feelings and keep an eye on their online activities. If parents make children befriend children instead of scolding or stopping, then children can share their problems openly. In this case, if the girl had got emotional support from her parents, she may not have gone to this extent.
There can be many reasons behind such extreme steps of teenagers. Nowadays social media and online friends affect children quickly. They follow wrong paths in the name of love, friendship or freedom. This girl from Lucknow took such a big step at the behest of her boyfriend, because she felt that she really loves her. This age is such that children often make mistakes in deciding right and wrong. Parents should explain the difference between right and wrong to the children and assure them that they are with them in every situation. If the children consider their parents as their friend, then they will be less under the influence of the people outside.
This incident is a lesson for the society. Parents should spend time with their children, understand their emotional needs and give them the right guidance. Also, schools and their accompaniment should also be taken care of, so that they can avoid wrong company and online dangers. It is necessary to educate children about the correct use of mobile and internet. Such incidents make us think that we are cut off from our children? If we create a strong relationship with them in time, then such incidents can be stopped.
