Independence day flag hoisting rules on Independence Day:
On August 15, the Prime Minister has the right to hoist the national flag, who flags off the Red Fort in Delhi. Apart from this, the Chief Minister at the state level, the District Magistrate or senior officials at the district level hoist the flag. Common citizens can also hoist the flag, but it is necessary to follow the rules.
Flag hoist time:
The tricolor is hoisted in the morning on Independence Day. This ceremony is usually held at sunrise or around 9 am. After this the national anthem is sung and salute is given.
On August 15, the flag is tied downwards, which is pulled upwards and pulled up and then opened. This is called ‘hoisting’. Whereas on 26 January, the flag is already above and only ‘inauguration’ is done.
Do not touch the tricolor or fall to the ground:
The tricolor should never be demolished on the ground. It is necessary to hoist and handle it in a clean and honorable manner. Dirty or torn flags cannot be used.
According to the Indian Flag Code 2002, now common citizens can also hoist the flag day and night, provided they are displayed with respect and are in good condition.
Flag color and shape:
The ratio of the tricolor should be 3: 2. Kesari at the top is white in the middle and green color below. In the middle is the Ashoka Chakra with 24 lilies of blue.
No picture, symbol, word or flower can be pasted on the tricolor. This is a violation of the rule and doing so can be a punishable offense.
Honor during the national anthem:
The national anthem is sung while hoisting the flag. At that time, everyone should stand in a careful posture and respect the tricolor. Explain that the national anthem should be completed in 52 seconds.
If you are planning to hoist the flag on the occasion of Independence Day in your home, school, office or any public place, then follow the above rules. The tricolor is not just a flag, but is a symbol of our freedom, pride and respect.
