Tahawwur rana diseases: Terrorist Tahavvur Rana, who plotted the Mumbai attacks, is being brought from America to India. The US had cleared the way for the extradition of this terrorist of Lashkar, after which the process of bringing it to India was started. Rana had requested not to extradite India, citing his diseases in the US court last year. He had told the court that he was struggling with many serious diseases and had also presented many documents in the court for this. According to the documents of Tahwwur Rana, he has become a victim of heart attack many times and is currently struggling with Parkinson’s disease and cognitive decline. Now the question is what is Parkinson’s disease and how dangerous it is?
Dr. Atmpreet Singh, director of Neurology Department at Fortis Hospital in Greater Noida, told News18 That Parkinson’s disease is a disease associated with brain, which increases gradually. In this disease, there is a deficiency of a neurotransmitter called dopamine inside the brain. This disease affects the part of the brain that controls the activities of the body. Due to this, people’s hands start trembling, the balance of the body starts deteriorating and the speed of walking becomes very slow. Apart from this, there is also difficulty in speaking clearly of Parkinson’s patients. The risk of this disease is more than 50-60 years of age. Men have more risk of Parkinson’s risk than women.
According to Dr. Atmpreet Singh, the brain cells that make dopamine gradually start to weaken. Along with this, things like oxidative stress, genetic factor and neuroinflement also increase with aging. They increase the risk of Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disease that cannot be completely cured by any treatment, but medicines help prevent the progress of the disease. In about 80% of patients, medicines are effective, but in cases where the effect of medicines starts decreasing, then surgical treatment has to be resorted to. There is no accurate test to detect Parkinson’s disease, but if a person sees its symptoms, then doctors analyze many things to confirm it. Only then its treatment is started.
Can Parkinson’s disease be avoided? According to the doctor, there is no way to avoid Parkinson’s disease. However, good lifestyle, better food and regular exercise can reduce its risk. Reduced consumption of alcohol can also help in reducing the risk of this disease. There is currently no vaccine available for this disease. In many countries, research is going on about the vaccine of Parkinson’s. Its vaccine is likely to come in the next few years. Currently, some medicines are given to control this disease, which takes relief from many symptoms by taking 2-3 times a day. Parkinson’s disease is not immediately fatal, but it is a slowly growing disease, which can greatly affect the movement of the body over time. This disease makes life difficult. If it is not treated properly and care, then the complications associated with it can prove to be fatal.
Now the question is, what is a cognitive decline? Dr. Atmpreet Singh said that cognitive decline means that the abilities like thinking, remembering, decision making and concentration declines gradually. It can be a common process with aging, but when it begins to affect the daily routine badly, it can also be a sign of any neurological disease such as dementia or Alzheimer’s. Initial symptoms may include forgetting things, forgetting words while talking, difficulty making decisions or asking the same thing again and again. If not focused on time, this situation can be more serious.
