Dr. Manmohan Singh Fondness For Maruti 800: Former Prime Minister of the country Manmohan Singh, who took oath as the first Sikh Prime Minister of India, has passed away. Dr. Manmohan Singh, famous as the father of economic reforms in the country, said goodbye to this world at the age of 92. After his death, people are paying tribute to him on social media. In such a situation, MLA Asim Arun, who served as the head of the Special Protection Group (SPG) when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, has shared an anecdote on social media that shows his simplicity. Dr. Manmohan Singh, even after becoming the Prime Minister, was a person who liked simplicity. Despite his big degrees and being in politics for so long, he always liked to remain like a middle class person. He told that when he was the Prime Minister, instead of a luxury car like BMW, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s heart was on a small car.
In honor of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Central Government has announced 7 days of national mourning. Congress has also announced 7 days of mourning and canceled all programs. Manmohan Singh’s last rites will be performed tomorrow i.e. on Saturday. Asim Arun is currently a BJP MLA from Kannauj Sadar, Uttar Pradesh. While sharing this story on social media X, Asim wrote, ‘I was his bodyguard for almost three years since 2004. SPG has the deepest security ring for the Prime Minister – the Close Protection Team, which I had the opportunity to lead. AIG CPT is the person who can never stay away from PM. If only one body guard can stay then this guy will be with him. In such a situation, it was my responsibility to stay with him like his shadow.
Asim further writes, ‘Dr. Saheb had only one car – Maruti 800, which was parked behind the gleaming black BMW in the PM House. Manmohan Singh ji repeatedly told me – Asim, I do not like to travel in this car, my car is this (Maruti). I would explain that sir, this car is not for your luxury, its security features are such for which SPG has taken it. But whenever the carcade passed in front of Maruti, he would always look at it with all his heart. As if you are repeating the resolution that I am a middle class person and it is my job to worry about the common man. PM’s car worth crores is mine, this is Maruti.
