There can be many reasons for delay in delivery once the clock is created, such as poor internet connectivity, receiver device offline status, or any server issue on the part of WhatsApp.
Poor Internet Connectivity: If your device has a poor or weak Internet connection, there may be a delay in sending messages immediately, which may result in a clock icon appearing next to the message.
