New Delhi. When a new smartphone is purchased, many things like camera, processor and battery are kept in mind. Along with these, display also has great importance. However, when thinking about displays, many terms like OLED, pOLED and AMOLED come to the fore. But, many people do not know the difference between them. So let’s know about them.
Let us tell you that both POLED (Plastic OLED) and AMOLED (Active Matrix OLED) are types of OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays.
Talking about OLED displays, OLED is a type of display technology that uses organic compounds to produce light after the application of electric current. Every pixel in an OLED display emits its own light. This provides better contrast and energy efficiency than traditional LCD displays. They can also be used flexibly for curved or foldable devices.

What is AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode)?
AMOLED is a specific type of OLED technology that incorporates an active matrix for more precise control over each individual pixel. This allows for better refresh rates, better color reproduction and lower power consumption compared to standard OLED displays. AMOLED displays are commonly used in smartphones, tablets and other portable devices. Because, they have the capacity to offer vibrant colors and deep black while saving battery. OLED is considered better than AMOLED for phone display.
What is pOLED (Plastic Organic Light Emitting Diode)?
pOLED is a variation of OLED technology that uses plastic substrates instead of glass, making displays thinner, lighter, and more durable. Flexibility can also be enabled by the use of plastic, through which curved or rollable displays can be made. pOLEDs are commonly found in wearable displays. Like- Smartwatch. Where flexibility and durability of the display is important. AMOLED panels are clearer than plastic panels i.e. pOLED. But, durability of plastic panel is higher as compared to glass panel. These are thin and cheap also. But, scratches also occur easily in these.
