Many times the geyser is left on the whole night. So does it affect the electricity bill also? Because it is believed that once the geyser water becomes hot, there should be no repeated consumption of electricity to heat it.

What happens if geyser is left on overnight?
The geyser has a thermostat which switches off the heating filament when it reaches the maximum temperature. So once the water is heated the heating will start only when the water temperature drops again. If you keep your geyser on during the night, it may take 3-4 cycles of heating. So the thing to understand is that if you heat the water thrice just before taking a bath then it will definitely cost more electricity.

If the temperature is high then the water in the geyser will remain hot for a long time and the heating cycle will also reduce. But keeping the geyser running at night will increase electricity consumption. Due to this, the water tubes in the geyser will remain unnecessarily hot. Adopt a better method, i.e. turn on the geyser as soon as you wake up in the morning, it takes 5-10 minutes and you are sure that your geyser does not remain on throughout the night.
New geysers nowadays have temperature control knobs, which can control the temperature. That means, the more hot water you need for use, the more hot the water will be. If someone wants very light hot water then he can set it with the knob. If someone wants more hot water then he can set it also.
